Breath, Discipline, Love

Hello there,

Since today is the last day of the month, I am taking some time to intentionally reflect on the past 31 days. This month I completed Yoga with Adriene’s 30 Day Yoga Journey in real time, for the first time ever. She has released these journeys each January since 2015 and until now, I had yet to complete one in real time. Wow, is it something to dedicate a small amount of time every day to reconnecting with your breath. I’m grateful. For my breath, for my discipline, for the opportunity and community that Adriene has cultivated so beautifully, and for myself.

In my last letter, I wrote about radically loving others. All others. There was something that I didn’t say outright, so here goes: The foundation to radical love is self love. And I mean real, honest, unconditional, ultimate self love. This daily yoga journey, this commitment to showing up for myself every single day, has been one of the most meaningful acts of love that I have shown myself. It makes a difference. As my self love deepens, so does my capability to love others. In the face of a thousand reasons not to.

As I embrace the month ahead, I’m looking forward to celebrating some birthdays of those I love, making a few camping trips to reconnect with nature, and continuing my daily yoga practice. I’ll also be reading The Four Agreements, written by don Miguel Ruiz, for a book club discussion later this month. I’m looking forward to each day that Bonnie continues to get healthier and more confident, and the bonds between the Borts continue to grow. I’m looking forward to living with intention.

There is a lot going on in the world, in your life and mine, that is difficult to make peace with. But at any given moment, upon inspection, we can discover that there are more than enough conditions met to allow us true happiness. May we all know this and feel it at our core.

With love,

Jessica
